Contained within Copthall South Fields is The Watling Chase Community Forest, planted around the early 2000’s, only now has started to mature, and the beginnings of a forest form, the many varied species of tree planted flourishing.
‘a rich mosaic of landscape, within which land uses include farmland, woodland, villages, leisure enterprises, nature areas and public open space.’ (Watling Chase Community Forest Plan Review 2001, p5). Their establishment, development and maintenance should increase environmental quality and the desirability to be located in the area.’
